Privacy policy

We built TalkOut so people can speak freely. Protecting what you share is the foundation of that.
[Registered business name] ("TalkOut", "we") is the data fiduciary for personal data collected through this website, under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
What we collect
- Account and booking details: name or nickname, email, optional WhatsApp number, language, session times, and anything you choose to tell us before a session.
- Payment records: plan, amount, payment status and Razorpay reference IDs. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by Razorpay; we never see or store them.
- Messages you send through our contact form.
- Technical data: IP address and browser type in short-lived security logs.
We never record sessions and do not store what is said in them. Information you share about your feelings or health is treated as sensitive, kept to a minimum, and used only to support you.
Why we use it (and our legal basis)
- To book, schedule and hold your sessions, and send confirmations, Google Meet links and reminders — to perform the service you asked for.
- To take payment and keep accounts as required by tax law.
- To send optional check-ins after sessions — with your consent, which you can withdraw any time.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or build marketing profiles.
Who we share it with
Only with services that help us run TalkOut, under contracts that protect your data:
- Razorpay — payments.
- Google — Google Calendar invitations, Google Meet sessions, and Gmail for emails.
- Meta (WhatsApp Business) — confirmations and reminders, only if you opt in.
- Our hosting provider — servers in secure data centres.
Some of these providers may process data outside India, as permitted by law. Company-plan clients see only total usage, never names or contact details. We disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies to keep you signed in. See our cookie policy.
How long we keep it
Account and session records: up to 2 years after your last session. Payment and invoice records: 8 years, as required by Indian tax law. Security logs: up to 90 days. You can delete your account any time from My account; your details are then anonymised, and only the payment records the law requires are kept.
Your rights
You can access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, nominate someone to exercise your rights, and raise a grievance. Most of this you can do in My account; for anything else, write to our Grievance Officer below. We respond within 30 days.
Security
All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Integration keys are encrypted at rest. Staff access needs a strong password and two-step verification and is logged. If a breach affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
Children
TalkOut is for adults aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
